Check-up & clean in Toowoomba
Regular check-ups and professional cleans are the cheapest dentistry you'll ever buy — catching small problems while they're still small, and keeping your gums healthy for life.
Been a while? That's okay.
Plenty of people who walk through our doors haven't seen a dentist in years — sometimes decades. Whatever the reason (cost, fear, a bad experience, or life just getting busy), you will not get a lecture here. We're a judgement-free practice: we start from where your teeth are today and make a plan forward, prioritised so the urgent things come first and the rest can wait until you're ready.
What happens at a check-up and clean
The examination. We check every tooth and your existing fillings, screen your gums for early gum disease, look at your bite and jaw, and screen the soft tissues of your mouth. X-rays, when needed, show what's happening between teeth and under old fillings — where problems hide.
The clean. Professional scaling removes the hardened tartar that brushing can't, above and below the gumline, followed by polishing. Your gums may bleed a little if it's been a while — that's a sign they need the clean, not a reason to avoid it.
The conversation. You'll leave knowing exactly what state your mouth is in, what (if anything) needs doing, what it will cost, and what can safely be monitored. No surprises, no pressure.
What does a check-up and clean cost in Toowoomba?
We've capped the price of prevention, so you always know the visit's cost before you book. Our 6-monthly active maintenance visit — check-up, scale & clean and fluoride — is capped at $220 (health fund item codes 012, 114, 121). Children aged 1–17 are capped at $130, or bulk billed with Medicare if they qualify for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule — call us and we'll check your child's eligibility for you.
New patients: our $199 new patient offer is a straightforward way to find out where you stand. Our preferred provider health funds usually cover the 6-monthly active maintenance visit — see the full pricing guide for details and item codes to quote to your fund.
Frequently asked questions
How often should I have a check-up and clean?
For most people, every six months. Some need more frequent hygiene visits (for example, with gum disease) and some healthy mouths can stretch longer — we'll recommend an interval based on your mouth, not a blanket rule.
Does a scale and clean hurt?
It's usually comfortable. If your gums are inflamed or your teeth are sensitive it can feel scratchy in places — tell us and we'll adjust our approach. It gets easier with every regular visit.
I'm embarrassed about my teeth. Will you judge me?
No. Genuinely. Judgement-free care is one of the things we're known for — our job is to help from wherever you're starting, and we've seen everything before.
Do I need X-rays every time?
No — only when they're clinically justified, typically every couple of years for low-risk patients or when we need to investigate something specific.
Can I book the whole family?
Yes — we see patients of all ages, and back-to-back family appointments can be arranged. Just mention it when booking.
