Dental implants in Toowoomba

A dental implant replaces a missing tooth from the root up — a small titanium post in the jaw supporting a custom-made crown that looks, feels and works like a natural tooth.

Is an implant right for you?

Implants suit many people with one or more missing teeth — but not everyone, and not always. Suitability depends on the health of your gums, the amount of bone available where the tooth was lost, and your general health. Some situations need extra steps such as bone grafting; in others, a dental bridge or partial denture may serve you better. At your consultation we compare the realistic options for your mouth — including the ones that cost less — so you can make an informed decision without pressure.

Missing most or all of the teeth in an arch? A single implant per tooth usually isn't the answer — see All-on-X full-arch replacement instead.

The implant process at Southside Dental

1. Consultation and 3D planning. Examination, X-rays and imaging to assess your bone and plan the ideal implant position.

2. Implant placement. The implant is placed under local anaesthetic. Most patients are surprised how manageable this visit is, and normal activities usually resume quickly.

3. Healing. Over the following months the bone integrates with the implant — the foundation that makes an implant feel so stable. We monitor your healing along the way.

4. The crown. Once integrated, a custom crown is attached, matched in shape and colour to your natural teeth.

How much do dental implants cost in Toowoomba?

A single dental implant at Southside Dental is $5,000 from start to finish, including guided surgery — one clear figure covering the whole journey, so you're not adding up line items. If your case needs anything beyond the standard course (for example, bone grafting), it will be itemised in your written treatment plan after your consultation, before anything begins. Some health funds contribute towards implant treatment; we can help you check your cover, and payment plans from $20 a week or early release of super can help spread a larger treatment cost. Frequently asked questions

How much does a single dental implant cost?

A single dental implant is $5,000 from start to finish, including guided surgery. If extras such as bone grafting are needed for your case, they're itemised in your written quote after consultation — before you commit to anything, with payment plans available.

Does getting a dental implant hurt?

The placement is done under local anaesthetic and most patients find it far more comfortable than they expected. Some tenderness for a few days afterwards is normal and usually well managed with simple pain relief.

How long does the whole process take?

Typically several months from placement to final crown, because the bone needs time to integrate with the implant. Your personal timeline is mapped out at the planning stage so you know what to expect.

How long do implants last?

With good daily cleaning and regular check-ups, implants can last many years — often decades. Like natural teeth, they depend on healthy gums, so ongoing hygiene care matters.

Implant or bridge — which is better for me?

An implant doesn't rely on the neighbouring teeth, while a bridge uses them for support and is usually completed faster. Which suits you depends on those neighbouring teeth, your bone, budget and preferences — we'll explain both honestly at your consultation.
