CBHS preferred provider
CBHS dentist in Toowoomba — Choice Network provider
Southside Dental Toowoomba is a CBHS Choice Network dental provider. For CBHS members on eligible extras cover, that means selected preventive visits — check-up, scale and clean, fluoride — with no out-of-pocket cost, and a higher benefit on other treatment. Not sure which cover you're on? Call us and we'll check.
How the CBHS Choice Network works
CBHS is a not-for-profit fund originally set up for Commonwealth Bank staff, now open more widely. Its Choice Network is a group of dentists who've committed to reducing or removing the gap on selected preventive dental services — the difference between the dentist's fee and the CBHS benefit. At a Choice Network dentist, eligible members pay nothing for those services.
The important word is eligible. CBHS states that members on its higher extras tiers — including Prestige, LiveLife, Step-up, KickStart, Top Extras and Overseas Visitors Cover — are completely covered for selected preventive services at a Choice Network provider, subject to annual limits. Members on other CBHS extras products still receive a benefit, but not necessarily the full amount. Which group you fall into is the first thing worth confirming.
Preventive services covered under the network typically include examinations, scale and cleans, fluoride treatment and, on some covers, X-rays. The current terms are at cbhs.com.au; CBHS's own page is the source of truth and the program can change.
What that means at Southside Dental
Our 6-monthly active maintenance visit is the examination (item 012), scale and clean (114) and fluoride (121) — the same preventive bundle the Choice Network is designed to cover. For an eligible CBHS member, the benefit covers the visit in full. Members on other CBHS covers pay the gap between the benefit and our capped fee of $220.
New patients can start with the $199 new patient offer (comprehensive examination 011, scale and clean, fluoride, two X-rays and a treatment plan) — claimable on the same item codes, with $199 the most you'll ever be charged for it.
For treatment beyond prevention, CBHS pays its preferred-provider rate, which is higher than at a non-network dentist; a gap will usually remain, and your written quote shows it before anything begins. See the pricing page for all fees and item codes.
Check with CBHS, or let us check for you
- Ask CBHS. Log in to the CBHS member portal or app to see your extras product name, limits and waiting periods — the product name tells you whether you're fully covered at a Choice Network dentist. You can also confirm our listing through CBHS's provider search.
- Ask us. Call 07 4635 1444 or send your membership number via the contact form. We'll run a HICAPS quote and tell you what CBHS pays and what, if anything, you'd pay on the day.
Claiming on the day
Bring your CBHS membership card and we claim through HICAPS at reception. The benefit comes off the bill immediately and you pay only any gap — no forms to submit afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
Is Southside Dental a CBHS preferred provider?
Yes — we're a CBHS Choice Network dental provider. You can confirm this through CBHS's provider search or by asking CBHS directly.
Is my check-up and clean free with CBHS?
If you're on one of CBHS's eligible extras products, yes — the check-up, scale and clean and fluoride are covered in full at a Choice Network dentist, up to your annual limit. On other CBHS covers you receive a benefit but may have a gap. We can tell you which applies with your membership number.
Which CBHS covers are fully covered?
CBHS lists Prestige, LiveLife, Step-up, KickStart, Top Extras and Overseas Visitors Cover as completely covered for selected preventive services. Check CBHS's current list, as products change.
I'm a CBHS Corporate Health member. Does this apply?
CBHS Corporate Health is a related but separate fund with its own provider arrangements. Check with CBHS Corporate directly, or give us your details and we'll run a quote.
Does the $199 new patient offer work with CBHS?
Yes. It's claimable on standard item codes (011, 114, 121, 022 ×2). We claim on the spot and $199 is the most you'll pay.
Are fillings gap-free?
No. The no-gap arrangement covers selected preventive items only. For fillings and other treatment CBHS pays its network rate, which is higher than elsewhere, and you pay the remaining gap shown on your written quote.
