Southside Dental Toowoomba is a participating provider in HCF's More for Teeth program. If you're an HCF member with extras cover, that usually means your regular check-up and clean costs you nothing on the day, and you get a higher benefit on other treatment. What More for Teeth covers
More for Teeth is HCF's no-gap dental program. At a participating dentist, HCF pays 100% of the benefit for a set list of diagnostic and preventive services, so there's nothing to pay on the day. According to HCF, the program covers, each calendar year and subject to your annual limits and any waiting periods:
- One or two check-ups (examinations), depending on your level of cover
- Scale and clean
- Fluoride treatment
- X-rays taken at the visit
The program also covers custom sports mouthguards at participating dentists. We don't currently provide mouthguards, so that part of the program isn't available with us.
HCF made More for Teeth available on its Basic extras cover, so most HCF members with any dental extras are eligible. The exact number of check-ups you get depends on your policy — that's the main thing worth confirming before you book.

What that means at Southside Dental
Our 6-monthly active maintenance visit is exactly the bundle More for Teeth is built around: examination (item 012), scale and clean (114) and fluoride (121). For an eligible HCF member, the fund's benefit covers the visit in full, and any X-rays we take (022) are covered under the same program.
If you're new to us, the $199 new patient offer includes the comprehensive examination (011), scale and clean, fluoride and two X-rays — the same item codes, so it's claimable in the same way. Whatever the fund pays, $199 is the most you'll be charged.
For anything beyond preventive care — fillings, crowns, root canal, extractions — HCF pays its preferred-provider rate, which is higher than you'd receive at a non-participating dentist. There will usually still be a gap; your written quote shows the exact figure before treatment begins. All our fees and item codes are on the pricing page.

Your cover depends on your policy, waiting periods and remaining annual limit. Two ways to find out where you stand:
- Ask HCF. Log in to HCF's online member services or the HCF app, or call HCF. Quoting item codes 012, 114, 121 and 022 gets you a precise answer. You can also confirm we're listed as a More for Teeth provider using HCF's Find a Provider tool.
- Ask us. Call 07 4635 1444 or send your membership number through our contact form. We'll run a HICAPS quote and tell you what HCF pays and what, if anything, you'd pay on the day — before you book.
Claiming on the day
Bring your HCF card — physical or in the app — and we process the claim through HICAPS at reception. HCF's benefit comes straight off the bill; you pay only any remaining gap. No forms, no waiting for a refund.

Is Southside Dental an HCF preferred provider?

How many free check-ups do I get with HCF?
One or two per calendar year, depending on your level of cover. Your policy summary in HCF's online member services shows which applies to you, or we can check for you with your membership number.
Are X-rays covered?
Under More for Teeth, X-rays taken at the visit are covered at participating providers, subject to HCF's limits on how many can be claimed. If we need a full-mouth OPG X-ray, that's bulk billed through Medicare, so it's no cost to you either way.
What about fillings and other treatment?
HCF pays a higher benefit at a preferred provider than elsewhere, but fillings, crowns and similar aren't gap-free. You'll always receive a written quote showing HCF's contribution and your gap before any treatment begins.
Does the $199 new patient offer work with HCF?
Yes. It uses standard item codes (011, 114, 121, 022 ×2), so it's claimable like any visit. We claim on the spot and $199 is the most you'll pay.
I'm still in a waiting period. Can I still come?
Of course — you'd simply pay our standard capped fee for the visit. If you'd like to wait until your cover kicks in, tell us the date and we'll book you just after it.
